The Cumbre region has been a center of high quality tea production, and is known for its unique varieties such as black tea, green tea, white tea and jasmine tea. The crops yield a surprisingly sweet and smooth tea, and are packaged under the Colombian brands Hindú and Bitaco, which are exported to the United States, Panama, Guatemala, Paraguay, Bolivia and many other countries.
Take a tour of one of the tea estates. Walk through the fields, see how the leaves are grown and harvested, and learn about the different types of tea produced in the region. During the tour, local guides will explain the fermentation and drying processes of the tea leaves, and how the final product is packaged and marketed.
You can explore the church of San Antonio de Padua, a historic site dating back to colonial times.
The Farallones de Cali National Natural Park has beautiful mountains and waterfalls, and is home to a large number of plant and animal species. Another option is the Parque Ecológico de la Montaña, an ideal place to hike and enjoy nature.
You can not miss some of the typical dishes of the region, such as “sancocho de gallina” or “sopa de mondongo”, which are known for their delicious flavor.
