Hike to Los Olivos Waterfall: Peñas Blancas Valle del Cauca

1. Description

This is an emblematic point known for its majestic mountains in sight, and is a route designed especially for medium level hikers.
It is a hike of approximately 1 hour and a half, with a total of 6.3 km at an altitude of 2,000 to 2,300 meters above sea level.

It includes trails guided by the local community, spring water tributaries, refreshing waterfalls and food grown in the gardens of local farmers.

The village of Peñas Blancas and its surroundings hide hidden treasures of long memory, and are proof of the history of resistance to the armed conflict caused by the exploitation of its rocks for gold mining.

Today, and thanks to the support of the General Staff, local government entities and the insistence and unity of the population, it can be said that these are things of the past, that the present is full of enterprises that want to be recognized and a community open to adapting tools to conserve and protect its territory.
