The bandola, also known as plectrum, is one of the flagship instruments of local musical production.
The Bandola Festival is an annual musical event held in the municipality of Sevilla, located in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. This festival highlights traditional Colombian music, especially the bandola, a stringed instrument typical of the Andean region of the country, and attracts musicians and bands from all over the country, as well as from other Latin American countries.
During the festival, concerts, workshops, talks and other cultural activities related to traditional music are held. In addition to promoting national talent, the festival seeks to foster cultural exchange between musicians and artists from the region and other Latin American countries, thus contributing to the dissemination and preservation of the region’s cultural traditions.
The Bandola Festival is held in August and is considered one of the most important traditional music events in Colombia.
